Edathala Grama Panchayat – Ward Delimitation Analysis Report

According to the final order of the Kerala Delimitation Commission, Edathala Grama Panchayat in Ernakulam District has been divided into 24 wards (constituencies). The ward boundaries have been determined by taking into account the population distribution of the panchayat as well as geographical and administrative considerations.

Geographical Location and Characteristics

Edathala Grama Panchayat is situated in Ernakulam District, Kerala.

As per the notification issued by the Director of Panchayats (Rural), the number of seats to be filled through direct elections in this panchayat has been fixed at 24.

In determining the boundaries of these wards, significant consideration was given to natural and man-made features such as streams, branch canals (for example, the Edappally Branch Canal, Ettakkar Branch Canal, and Shanthigiri Canal), major public roads (including the Aluva–Munnar Road, Aluva–Pallikkara Road, and N.A.D. Road), as well as the boundaries of neighboring local self-government institutions such as Kalamassery Municipality and Kizhakkambalam Grama Panchayat. These features played a key role in defining the ward limits and ensuring administrative convenience.
